@mrweathers I'll say this: I'd rather start writing in PreTeXt and later convert it to Markdown or another format, than the other way around. PreTeXt is XML, so it's much easier to parse and transform into arbitrary formats. (Source: currently writing/converting PreTeXt docs for Jupyter.)
