    @matthras An interesting part of thread: the "Super Mario effect" described isn't fully realized in most SM games due to a limited supply of 1ups. SM Odyssey does it better but still penalizes 10 coins on defeat. And I feel similarly about mastery grading token systems as a game designer.

      @matthras That's why I like to rate limit by having students earn extra reattempts as needed: no looming extra life counter / Game Over in the background.
