  1. Not only am I not willingly going back to synchronous assessment, I'm also not going back to hard-scheduled due dates. It's so much nicer to spread out grading to a few exercises per day, rather than having full exams for all students arrive in my inbox at the same time.

      It also facilitates a rapid feedback loop. A student thinks they've figured out first-order constant coefficient ODEs on Tuesday night, so they take the quiz immediately rather than waiting until Thursday when it opens.

        One improvement I'll make next semester: I gave *too* much flexibility by default this semester. I'll continue that flexibility moving forward, but students will have to formally request/earn it somehow, to naturally encourage better time management.
