  1. Look I go to my university's website for a different reason than maybe most visitors (or maybe the more important visitors) but I can't imagine it's great UX to require filling over half the screen with the same top menu and a mostly generic splash image.

      Note how one department is skirting the system by editing in a carousel of images with actual content. I checked and at least they have alt tags.

        I wasn't be sarcastic when I said there are more important visitors than me. I'm a captive audience; if this design attracts more students and donors, then I'll learn to navigate around things I guess.
